Mao Shan Wang durian at $3,200 for a table of 10, anyone?

When it comes to durian, one piece is never enough, especially if you are a fan of the thorny fruit.

With durian prices skyrocketing in recent years, what better way to enjoy the king of fruits then to participate in an eat-all-you-can affair where you get to feast on mountains of durian.

Next month, the Jom Durian 10 event returns to Summit USJ in Subang Jaya for the fourth year with close to eight tonnes of durians of different variety expected to be brought in.

For RM40 (S$12.80) per person, participants will be able to indulge themselves for an hour together with friends and family.

Mao Shan Wang durian now costs up to $38 for one

Those who are looking to savour only the Musang King fruit can purchase tables worth RM5,000 and RM10,000 for a table for 10.

Exorbitant?

Perhaps, but it’s for a good cause.

All proceeds from the event will be channelled to the Children’s Wish Society to help raise funds to fulfil the wishes of terminally ill children across the country.

“Those purchasing the corporate tables will be having top-of-the-range durian with no time limit placed. As long as they can still tuck in, they are welcome to continue dining,” said Summit USJ chairman Wong Kim Chon during the launch at Durian SS2.

The popular durian stall in Petaling Jaya will be supplying durian for the event.

The event runs over two-days from Aug 19 to 20.

The first day has been dedicated to those purchasing corporate tables.

On the second day public can participate in two different sessions: noon and 1.30pm.

To purchase tickets or tables, you can call 03-8023 3493 or visit Summit USJ information counters or CWSMalaysia Facebook page.
