USS Shenzhou
On the left of the bridge is Lieutenant Saru, member of a new alien species, and played by Doug Jones. He is presumably checking out what’s on the viewscreen with Burnham (center) and Captain Georgiou.

Klingons have arrived…
And it looks like they’ll play a pivotal role in the conflict of “Discovery.” Mary Chieffo stars as L’Rell (left) and Chris Obi is T’Kuvma.

T’Kuvma
A Klingon leader, T’Kuvma is looking to unite the Klingon houses. Doesn’t look like the Klingons you remember? That may be due to the storyline taking place before the Klingon augment virus, but we’ll have to wait to find out.

Speaking with EW, Martin-Green said her character is fully human, but was the first human to attend the Vulcan Learning Center, and then the Vulcan Science Academy. She also has a close relationship with Sarek (Spock’s father), which we see in the first trailer.
